Guest Celebrant on December 15th - Rev. Edwin Johnson.
The Rev. Edwin Johnson will be our guest celebrant on December 15th. Edwin is the Director of Organizing for the Episcopal City Mission in Boston. Please join Rev. Johnson and his family at this service and learn more about the Episcopal City Mission and Rev Johnson’s ministry.
The Episcopal City Mission, ECM, builds relationships and collective power across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for racial and economic justice as the expression of God’s transforming love. We do this by organizing Episcopalians and funding BIPOC-(Black, Indigenous, and people of color) led movement building in grassroots and faith-rooted organizations. A message from Rev. Johnson – Greetings, St. Mark's! I pray you are well, and I am so excited to have the chance to celebrate Gaudate Sunday of Advent with you in a few weeks. My/our ministry consists of organizing and empowering Episcopal Communities to create a more just and joyful world around them through their ministries. It's a particular pleasure to help churches of all sizes who might feel as though they do not have a lot to partner with those around them. We also fund and partner with grassroots organizations. Of all that I do, I most love spending time with communities like yours, and I am looking forward to it. I must warn you that I come in as a package deal as my wife Susan and sons Francisco and Santiago generally come along, and I am hopeful that this will be the beginning of not only a partnership but also a friendship. One of my avocations is dance (I teach and perform with a dance company) so perhaps we can have an Advent party!
