What is Lent?

Lent is a 40-day season of reflection, repentance, and spiritual preparation for Easter. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, it mirrors Jesus’ time of fasting in the wilderness and invites believers to deepen their faith through prayer, fasting, and acts of service. Worship during Lent emphasizes penitence, often omitting “Alleluia” and featuring more subdued liturgy. It culminates in Holy Week, leading to the joy of Easter Sunday. Lent is a time to turn back to God, seek renewal, and prepare hearts for the resurrection of Christ.

All Are Welcome

We would love for you to join our Sunday service.

We are a Christian community in the Episcopal faith tradition.  We believe that God loves each one of us, wants to be in a relationship with us, and calls us to serve others.  We are a small but mighty community with diverse church backgrounds that worships, serves, and learns together to grow our faith.  Our congregants are from Westford, Chelmsford, Groton, Littleton, Lowell, and beyond.  At St. Mark’s, we strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being. All are welcome to join us in opportunities for spiritual growth, community service, pastoral care, and fellowship.
